This is a year for adventure, new ventures, and taking the time to reconnect with family and friends. Recently, Sailgirl and her mom took a bit of a jaunt through England, Ireland and Scotland. Watch this space for a few separate blogs with lots of photos. Please make sure you are viewing this in your browser so you can enjoy the slideshows. We flew from Seattle, WA direct to London Heathrow on British Airways. This is a fairly easy overnight (9 hr) flight and flying that direction seemed to work well with our body clocks in regards to jet lag. We hit the ground running and explored a bit of London the afternoon and evening we arrived. That first night we slept very well and took off the next morning for Ireland. As we only spent one night in London upon arrival, I booked a room near Euston Station so we would have an easy commute in the morning for an 0900 train departure the next day. Our entire trip lasted approximately three weeks and we wanted to get a little taste of each country. Luckily we also spent a few days in the English countryside with my niece and visited some amazing sites nearby Lakenheath. I would easily suggest a similar itinerary but have to admit that this adventure left me craving more time in Ireland and especially Scotland. Virgin Trains has a direct route from Euston Station in London to Holyhead Ferry Terminal. We enjoyed our travel by train and the views it provided. Our ferry ride to Dublin was booked as part of our fare. Easy!!! Off we go, stay tuned!
